About half of retirees who have already moved after retirement purchased a same size or bigger home. They are accommodating adult children and plan on entertaining more. Nearly 16% of U.S. millennials lived with their parents in 2022. The other half are shrinking their next home, but not necessarily spending less, opting for luxury appointments they never had before. The top reason for moving out of state after retirement was a better climate. However, the majority of retirees will stay in the same state, close to their family.
